Refunds
What to do when a customer brings something back, and what happens to the consignor.
A customer brings back a sweater that doesn't fit after all. Then you do a refund. The old sale stays as it is. The refund is added as a separate, negative sale on the day you refund.
How to refund
- Look up the receipt in Sales receipts. The receipt number is on the customer's receipt.
- Click Refund.
- Check what the customer brings back.
- Choose what happens with the item: Back on sale or Back to the consignor.
- Choose how you pay back: Cash or Card.
- Click the button with the amount, and print the return receipt for the customer.
Today or later
- The same day and simply a mistake? Delete the sale in Sales receipts. Then it's as if it never happened.
- A day later or more, or is the customer really bringing something back? Do a refund. Your figures for earlier days stay right.
Under Settings > Shop you set how many days a customer has to bring something back. When that period is over, you see a warning. You may still refund. It's your call.
And the consignor?
If the item was a consignor's, the consignor's share comes off the balance again.
- Hadn't you paid out the consignor yet? Then the balance simply goes down.
- Had you already paid out the consignor? Then the consignor owes you that share. The balance goes below zero. When you get the money back, you register it with the consignor.
